Basic Principles of Ampersand

The primary goal of Ampersand is the training of students in the techniques required to produce quality theatrical events.

At the heart of this goal are the following principles:

  • That commitment is important at all levels of participation;

  • That all members make a valuable contribution to the organization;

  • That new ideas can be expressed in a safe, nurturing environment;

  • That self discipline is an aid, not an impediment to self expression;

  • That, except when casting demands it, theatre makes no distinctions of race, gender, age, size, or social standing;

  • That leadership is as much a responsibility as a privilege.
